Working

together

We don’t want students to miss out on exploring, simply because there weren’t enough signups. We’ve worked with multiple departments on the same trip, allowing everyone to still be a part of going abroad without worries of minimums.

CASE STUDY: ORGANIC & FRESH-EUROPE

When a Plant/Weed Science department and Dairy department didn’t get the numbers, individually, we worked on a combined trip so everyone could be involved. How do we organically provide Europe with Meats, Cheese, Plants and Flowers?

ACTIVITY: Trip to Market

SHARED EXPERIENCE: Plant Science walked through Columbia Road Flower Market to see how flowers retain freshness and import distance, while Dairy worked on the food side. Welcome dinner followed, with meal prepared using only market ingredients.

ACTIVITY: English Farm Day

SHARED EXPERIENCE: Dairy department met with local farmers to talk about European practices and restrictions for “free-range” and meat processing. Meanwhile, plant science looked into feeding habits and how fields are up-kept.

ACTIVITY: Chocolate Workshop in Bavaria

SHARED EXPERIENCE: The perfect, and delicious, balance of plant science talking about what makes a for a preferred Cocoa Bean, while discussions are had about various Milk ratios affecting varieties.

ACTIVITY: Bicycle Tour of Countryside

SHARED EXPERIENCE: Private bicycle tour included both stops in tulip fields, but also farms along the way. Students full immersed in natural beauty of the Netherlands.
